How would we know if you started coasting?

Short answerWatch the work you cannot see: patch compliance, restore tests, access reviews, and whether anyone raises anything you did not ask about.

Fair question, and usually asked by someone who has been let down before. Ticket response is the easy part to fake because it is visible. The work that quietly stops is the preventive work, and the warning signs are specific:

  • Patch compliance drifting downward month over month
  • Restore tests that stop appearing in your reporting, or appear with no detail
  • Access reviews that stop happening
  • Documentation that has not been updated since onboarding
  • Recommendations drying up, because a provider paying attention always has something to raise
  • Only ever hearing from us when you initiate

Those are the numbers to watch in your reporting, and you are entitled to ask about any of them at any time. A provider who cannot produce patch compliance and restore test results on request is not doing the work.

The most useful signal is the last one. If nobody has brought you a problem you did not already know about in six months, either your environment is perfect or nobody is looking.
