Can you recover files from a computer that will not turn on?
Short answerUsually yes, if the storage drive itself has not failed physically.
A computer that will not power on often has perfectly intact data. We can typically recover files from the drive even when the machine is beyond repair. Drives with physical damage are a different and more expensive category, and we will tell you when that is what you are facing rather than running up a bill first.
Stop using a drive as soon as you suspect a problem. Continuing to run it makes recovery harder.
