Can you work around our busy season and leave everything alone during peak months?

For HVAC that is usually late spring through August, plus a stretch of deep winter. For other trades it falls elsewhere. Whatever yours is, it goes in your account notes, and maintenance, migrations, upgrades, and anything carrying risk gets scheduled outside it.

What still happens during peak: security patching that genuinely cannot wait, emergency repairs, and monitoring. What does not: anything optional, anything requiring a reboot during business hours, and any project that could overrun.

We also front load deliberately. If July is untouchable, then spring is when hardware gets replaced and upgrades happen, not August, and we plan the year that way rather than reacting to it.

Ask other providers how they handle change windows. A provider running one standard maintenance schedule across every client will eventually run it straight through your busiest morning.
