Field service and trades contractors
We hire seasonal help in peak months. How easily can we scale licenses up and down?
The per-user portion of your support fee tracks your actual headcount, so you are not paying for thirty people in February because you had thirty in July.
Licensing is where contractors get stuck, and it is worth understanding before you sign anything. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace licenses purchased on an annual commitment cannot be reduced in the middle of the term, only at renewal. Licenses on a monthly term cost somewhat more per seat but can be dropped the month a seasonal employee leaves.
For a business with a real seasonal swing, the right structure is usually annual licenses for your year round core staff and monthly licenses for the seasonal seats. Set up that way from the start, you get the annual discount where it applies and the flexibility where you need it. Put everyone on the same plan and you pay for one or the other all year.
The same thinking applies to your field software seats, so we look at both together.
