Nonprofits

How do we handle IT on a nonprofit budget?

Short answerProtect the things that would end the organization first, then work down the list.

With limited money, sequence matters. Secure email and accounts, get backups working, and make sure donor data is protected. Those prevent the events that cost a nonprofit its funding and its reputation. Nicer computers and new equipment come after.

We are straightforward with nonprofit clients about what can wait. Board members generally appreciate seeing that reasoning written down.
