Computers and everyday problems

Who do we call to buy computers through?

Short answerYou can buy through us or direct. We will tell you when direct is cheaper, and we will give you specifications either way.

Both work and we genuinely do not mind which you choose.

Buying through us: the machine arrives configured, joined to your systems, with your software on it and ready for the user. Warranty claims come to us rather than you sitting in a manufacturer queue. It is one invoice and one relationship.

Buying direct: sometimes cheaper, particularly if you catch a deal or have an existing account with a supplier. We will give you the exact specification to buy and configure it when it arrives.

What we will not do is mark something up and tell you it is the only option. If a machine is cheaper direct from the manufacturer that week, we will say so.

The thing worth paying for either way is the warranty, and specifically onsite next business day where downtime matters. The difference in cost is small. The difference when a machine dies on a Tuesday morning is the whole day.

One practical note: buy the same model across the office where you can. A uniform fleet is faster to support, easier to keep patched, and means a spare machine actually fits anyone.
