Beyond break-fix
Why does our conference room never work properly?
Short answerUsually because it was assembled from parts by different people at different times. It is fixable and worth fixing.
The typical conference room has a TV someone bought, a webcam someone else bought, a cable that reaches if you sit in the right chair, and a different process depending on whether the meeting is Teams or Zoom. Every meeting starts with five minutes of fiddling, and with eight people in the room that is a real cost repeated weekly.
What makes rooms work reliably:
- One way in. A single cable or a single wireless method, not three options that each work sometimes.
- Audio that suits the room size. Audio is what people actually notice. A laptop microphone at the end of a ten foot table is why the people dialing in cannot hear.
- A camera that shows the room, not a webcam clipped to a laptop pointed at one person's shoulder.
- A dedicated room system where the room is used constantly. For a room in use several times a day, a purpose-built system that joins meetings with one button pays for itself quickly.
We specify, install and support these, and we will tell you when the honest answer is a decent cable, a good speakerphone and a tidy-up rather than a project.
