Who do we call to set up hosted desktops?
A hosted desktop means your staff log into a full Windows desktop that runs in a data center rather than on the machine in front of them. The local device becomes little more than a screen and keyboard.
Where they work well: multiple locations needing identical setups, heavy use of an application that is happier close to its database, staff who move between machines, high turnover where fast setup and shutoff matters, or compliance requirements where keeping data off local devices is valuable.
Where they work badly: anything needing serious graphics performance, businesses with unreliable internet, and heavy use of specialized peripherals, since scanners, signature pads, label printers, and imaging hardware are the usual friction points.
The honest tradeoff: your internet becomes the single point of failure for everything, rather than just for cloud services. When it goes down, nobody works at all rather than working locally in a degraded way. If we set them up, we will push hard for a failover connection, and that is not an upsell.
