Network, Wi-Fi and installs

Who do we call to install a new network switch?

Short answerWe do. Worth knowing your port count and whether anything needs power over Ethernet before you buy.

We supply and install switches, or install one you already bought. Either is fine.

Three things that decide what you actually need:

  • Port count, counted honestly. Every desk, printer, access point, camera, phone, and door controller. Then add a quarter for growth, because you will.
  • Power over Ethernet budget. Access points, cameras, and most desk phones draw power from the switch. A switch with enough ports but not enough PoE wattage fails in a way that looks random and is miserable to diagnose.
  • Managed or unmanaged. Unmanaged is cheaper and fine for a handful of desks. Once you want your payment traffic, cameras, or guest Wi-Fi separated from everything else, you need managed, and retrofitting that later means replacing the switch.

The unglamorous part matters too. A switch sitting on the floor of a closet with cables hanging off it will cause problems nobody traces back to it for a year. We mount and label as part of the install.
