Network, Wi-Fi and installs

Who do we call to install or replace a firewall?

Short answerWe do. Budget for the annual licensing as well as the hardware, because a firewall without a current subscription is just a router.

We size, supply, install, and then manage business firewalls. The management part is where most of the value sits, because a firewall is not a thing you install and forget.

Two things people get caught by:

  • The subscription is not optional. The security features that make it a firewall rather than a router, meaning intrusion prevention, web filtering, and threat feeds, run on an annual license. When it lapses, the box keeps passing traffic and quietly stops protecting you. We track renewal dates so this does not happen to you.
  • Size it for your internet speed, not your headcount. A firewall inspecting traffic has a throughput ceiling, and an undersized one becomes the reason your gigabit connection feels like 200 megabits.

If you are replacing one, tell us what runs through it now: VPN users, site to site tunnels, port forwards for cameras or a server, anything your line of business vendor required. Those are what break during a swap if nobody wrote them down.
