Network, Wi-Fi and installs

Who do we call to set up the network in a new office?

Short answerWe do, and the single most useful thing you can do is call us before the lease is signed.

A new office network is internet circuit, firewall, switching, wireless, cabling, phones, and printing, in that order of dependency. The part that determines your timeline is none of those: it is the internet circuit.

Fiber installs at a new address routinely take four to eight weeks and sometimes longer if construction is involved. Everything else can be done in days. We have watched businesses move into a beautiful new space and work off cellular hotspots for a month because nobody ordered a circuit until the keys were handed over.

So the sequence we recommend: order the circuit as soon as the lease is signed, or earlier if the landlord allows, then cable, then equipment, then a cutover scheduled outside business hours so your first day in the new space is a working day.

Bring us in during the site visit if you can. Checking what is already in the building, where the demarc is, and whether the ceiling is accessible takes half an hour and occasionally changes which space you pick.
